How The Pickleball Lab uses your information

Last updated: October 11, 2026

Who we are. The Pickleball Lab is run by Josh Mackens (“we”, “us”). This applies to our website, pickleballlab.co, and our members’ community at thelab.pickleballlab.co.

What we collect

  • Your account details: your name and email, any profile details you add, your plan, and when you joined.
  • What you do in the community: which pages and lessons you open, which videos you play, pause or skip and for how long, which buttons and links you press, whether you are on a phone or a computer, and how you arrived (for example from an email link or another website).
  • Your free trial: how many lessons you have used and when your trial started and ends.
  • Which page you visited before joining: when you click a Join link on our website, we record which page of pickleballlab.co you came in on, where you came from (for example Google), a rough description of your device and a scrambled network address, in our own database. We use it to learn which pages bring in members. It is not shared with any advertising or analytics company, and we do not do this for visitors whose browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.
  • A scrambled network address: to spot misuse such as repeat trials we keep a one-way scrambled version of your network (IP) address. We do not keep the address itself.
  • Payments: when you buy a plan, payment is handled by Stripe. We do not store your card number.
  • What we do not record: our activity tracking never records what you type: not chat messages, posts, comments, searches or forms. (Posts and messages you write in the community are stored by Circle, the platform we use, as part of the community itself.)
  • The mobile app: this activity tracking runs in your web browser. It does not run inside the Circle mobile app.

Cookies and website statistics

Our website and community use cookies and similar technology. We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the website, such as which pages are visited. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

Why we use it

  • To run the free trial: counting lessons, giving and pausing access.
  • To improve the Lab: which lessons help, where people stop watching, what to build next.
  • To support you: so coaches can see how you are progressing.
  • To understand which plans fit our members.
  • To prevent misuse, such as repeat free trials.
  • To email you about your account and trial, and about offers and updates from The Lab. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to stop by writing to contact@pickleballlab.co.

Who we share it with

We use trusted services to run the Lab: Circle (the community platform), Vercel (website and trial hosting), Neon (database), Google Analytics (website statistics) and Stripe (payments). They handle information on our behalf. We do not sell your personal information.

Where your information is processed

We are based in the United States and our services process information in the United States and other countries.

How long we keep it

Detailed activity records (the pages, clicks and videos described above) are kept for 24 months and then deleted. Totals that do not identify you, such as how many members watched a lesson, may be kept longer. Your account details (your name, email and the profile details you gave us) are kept for as long as your account exists, including after you stop being a paying member, unless you ask us to delete them.

Your choices and rights

  • You can ask to see, correct or delete your information by emailing contact@pickleballlab.co. We will respond within 30 days.
  • If you ask us to delete your information we will delete it, except anything we must keep for legal or accounting reasons.
  • You can leave the community at any time.
  • If your browser or an extension blocks our scripts, your free trial counter may not work and your trial access may be limited.

If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom

We use your information to provide your membership (to carry out our agreement with you), and for our legitimate interests in improving the Lab, running the free trial and preventing misuse. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your information, and to move it to another service. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. Contact us at contact@pickleballlab.co to use any of these rights.

If you are in California

You can ask what personal information we have collected and ask us to delete it. We do not sell your personal information, and we will not treat you differently for asking.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no system is completely secure.

Children

The Lab is not meant for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child under 16 has joined, tell us at contact@pickleballlab.co and we will delete their information.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for big changes, tell members.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
